Liz Strauss is a business strategist, product analyst, and master teacher who works with international corporations, small business, and entrepreneurs to create high-growth strategy based on influence, impact, and irresistible difference. She's a dynamic speaker and a maven at engaging with the people who help a business thrive. Liz is co-founder of SOBCon. SOBCon is the business strategy workshop event that grew out of her popular Successful-Blog.com, an online publication which carries 4,300 articles and has 94,000 reader comments.
Liz has built strategies and products with an international network of businesses on four continents and teaches a yearly course session at the Masters Degree Level for the Digital Publishing Program at City University of London.
“Knowing where you’re going is irresistibly attractive and being irresistible is a strategy,” said Strauss. “Strategy is a realistic plan to leverage opportunity. That starts with a clear vision and mission. A focused mission makes the roadblocks irrelevant and turns challenges into opportunities.”
Live blogging the conference? This is the place for you.
Tulsa has a very strong blogging community. This year, we’re making it easy to blog live during the 2012 Social Media Tulsa Conference thanks to cloud-based marketing and PR software leader, Vocus.
A liveblog is a blog post which is intended to provide a rolling textual coverage of an ongoing event, similar to Live television or live radio. Liveblogging has increased in usage by news organizations and blogging establishments since the mid-2000s, when they were initially used to broadcast updates of technology conferences in the absence of or alongside streaming video captures, and like microblogs, have gained currency as an online publication format which performs the same function as that of live television news coverage.
New to blogging? The Live blog is a great way to kick start your blog. Check out Liveblogging Tips from #BlogChat in his post, Lee Odden includes the link to 12 Live Blogging Tips for Better Event Content Creation. A few of the steps are:

"Giving You the Power to Fight the Big Boys!"
Our businesses are changing, and it's not just about the new tools we have available, it's about the consumer. Our consumers are tech savvy and social! They share reviews, check in on Foursquare looking for deals and pin photos of your products on Pinterest! We must learn to thrive in this new social environment. Reviews from our consumers must now become an integral part of our marketing strategy, and learning to turn Fans and Likes into revenue is critical for success.
This program will help you dive into the mind of the new social consumer and discover strategies to engage and sell to them! The New Social Consumer
In this session Patrick is going to take a humorous look at how people discover, fall in love with, get frustrated by, and eventually master social media. Each of us has the capability to master social media and become a superhero to our organizations. This is a great session to attend if you know that you want to use social media but it is taking you a long time to figure out how to make it relevant to your industry. And you don't have that kind of time.
You've got to be some kind of millionaire to start a new business, right? WRONG! I'll show you how to register a new business in the state of OK, set up a new website, manage your money, collaborate with your staff, market & sell your wares, & do everything that an entrepreneur needs to do, on less than $2,000 for an entire year. I'll show you how to get most of your basic business software needs for FREE, so you can spend more money investing in yourself and your business, and not in technology.
Enjoy a pick me up before your afternoon sessions. Thanks to Girls Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma

All business has to play by small town rules now. When every one of your customers can talk to everyone else, it’s like a small town. When the human voice is valued over corporate mission statements, it's like a small town. Becky McCray and Barry Moltz know that small town businesses have learned to thrive with limited resources, build community and reach beyond geographic boundaries. And that is exactly what all business has to do now. Together, they've discovered seven Small Town Rules that all businesses are having to cope with now and made them the subject of their new book, Small Town Rules, coming March 25 from Que Publishing.

If you are a small business owner, corporate manager, or rank-and-file employee, you all share one thing in common: managing the ebbs and flows of your career in times of change and uncertainty. One minute your career or business could be thriving, and the next minute, you could be struggling for survival. In this session, learn from veteran executive recruiter/author Mike Petras, several effective social media strategies to manage your career and even find a new job. After attending this session, you will walk away with at least 2-3 simple strategies that you can immediately implement to keep your career on track.
The presentation will dig deeply into current statistics on and demographics of social media users, the number of nonprofits using social media across platforms, empirical data on how social networks are currently used by nonprofits, forecasts of the future use of social media by nonprofits, and how nonprofits can develop a social media plan that is effective and inexpensive.
I can scale the presentation up for advance users or down for beginners in social media. For beginners, the presentation will focus less on statistics and metrics, and instead focus on most commonly used social media platforms by nonprofits (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, and blogging).
The presentation will also include easy how-to steps for acquiring a Google Grant for nonprofits, which provides verified nonprofits with premium Google products, such as AdWords, custom features on YouTube channels, and others, at no cost.

From the launch party to the final event - Social Media Tulsa helped spread the word about our mission and the purpose of Turn Tulsa Pink. A ripple affect that started at last year's Social Media Conference has made a huge financial impact on ten charities that help women and children in our county who have been affected by cancer. Learn how it all unfolded through social media.
As the human voice behind Twitter's @Imajackrussell Cheryl Lawson will get you acquainted with the nuances of social networks and help you begin to create a strategy, pick which sites work best for you, and how to best manage your time.
We'll also have the opportunity to help the Tulsa Humane Society Thanks to our sponsor Natural Balance Pet Foods.
Takeaways:
1. Strategy - How to decide the channels your business should adopt and how to use good time management, analysis and best practices.
2. Key insights on how to use Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to your best advantage.
3. How to listen and engage your friends, followers and fans (and where the pets are)

“A Genius is just someone with fewer stop signs in their head.”
No matter if you are a tech guru, a marketing genie, a blogging mama or papa, or an artistic soul you want to travel your professional and personal path successfully. You can’t do that if you are constantly stopping at STOP SIGNS, especially hidden ones you don’t even realize are stopping you. Through telling The Napkin Dad Story I will shine a light on the 6 STOP SIGNS we all find ourselves stuck at one time or another. But knowing you are stuck isn’t all that much help, we all know when that is happening. The key is knowing what and where these STOP SIGNS are, how we created them for ourselves (and how we sometimes secretly want them there) and most importantly how we can transform them into GO SIGNS and keep the momentum towards our destination. What does it take? It takes creativity, courage and character. Chances are you have all three at some level so let’s figure out how to use them to get you where you want to go.
Key Points
1. You will learn the reasons why YOU put that stop sign in front of you in the first place.
2. For those times the stop sign can’t be removed, you will learn how to use your creativity to go ‘off-road’.
3. You will learn that helping others see their stop signs will help you move faster to your goal.
This session is for anyone and creatives who think that they're not a big enough fish in our ocean of social media to make a splash of a difference. The topic will be about my experience with a web platform called Kickstarter and the adventure of raising money to fund a full length album.
I plan on sharing my background, my world crashing down around me after the end of my band, my desires and how I stumbled upon and eventually rocked the heck out of my "all or nothing" Kickstarter project.
Jenny Vergara and Laura Moss join @TulsaFoodGuy for this exciting panel. Moderated by Julie Chin
We will examine food trends in Social Media; the effects of Blogging and Social Media on the food service industry, recipes and cooking; and how to make your foodie-centric website stand out.
